Sloane Stephens vs Daria Kasatkina : Preview
Sloane Stephens has been unable to find form and consistency this season. The 28-year old American’s best run this season came at the Charleston Open 2021 where she made it to the quarter-finals which remains her only qualification beyond the Round of 32 across all the tournaments.
She continues her stay in Italy as she travels to Parma from the Italian Open 2021 in Rome where she was knocked out in the first round by fellow American Maddison Keys. She comes into the tie from a straight set victory in the first round.
Daria Kasatkina has made a good start to the 2021 season. The Russian has won two titles this year, one at the Philips Island Trophy 2021 in Australia followed by the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy 2021 in Russia. She has however failed to reach another quarter-finals in her next 3 tournaments leading to the ongoing tournament in Parma.
Similar to Stephens, Daria comes to Parma from the Italian Open 2021 where she was defeated in the first round. She comes into the tie from a straight set victory in the first round.
Sloane Stephens vs Daria Kasatkina : Head to Head
This will be the 4th meeting between the duo, who last met in 2018. Stephens has won both of their Clay meetings with Daria winning only once in their 3 meetings. Sloane Stephens leads the head-to-head tie 2-1.
Sloane Stephens vs Daria Kasatkina : Prediction
Both the players have similar record on Clay over the past 2 seasons. While Daria has thrived on Hardcourts this season, Clay has not been her strong suite. Stephens looks better on Clay with her best run coming on the Green Clay of Charleston but the Red soil can be a tricky affair for the American.
Prediction: Daria Kasatkina to win in straight sets.
