OPERATION FLAGRANT FOUL HITS NETFLIX, UNTOLD

Timothy Donaghy, who grew up in Pennsylvania with his basketball referee father, is the subject of Operation Flagrant Foul.

The Cinemaholic reports that with the same aspirations and a job in the same industry; he was hired as a Continental Basketball Association (CBA) official the year after attending his first camp, and went on to further his skill over seven seasons.

He got a position in the NBA in 1994 and rose to fame as a referee.

The documentary does, however, discuss the scandal that his gambling behaviour caused and how it affected his career.

According to ESPN, the NBA and FBI both learned in 2007 that Donaghy was betting on games in which he was involved and potentially influencing the results.

WHAT HAPPENED TO TIM DONAGHY?

Donaghy quit his job in 2007, and according to The Cinemaholic, he pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and transmitting wagering information through interstate commerce in connection with the betting on August 15th. Going back to the beginning and continuing from there.

The following year, he was given a 15-month prison term in a federal prison in Pensacola, Florida, along with a $500,000 fine and at least $30,000 in restitution to the government.

Later, in November 2009, Donaghy was released with three years of probation.

He admits in the Untold documentary that he regrets what transpired and wishes he was still playing with people he knew and considered friends.

Blowing the Whistle: The Culture of Fraud in the NBA, his memoir that he wrote while incarcerated, was published after it was completed, and he has since worked as a public speaker.

The Cinemaholic also mentions that in 2021, he officiated a professional wrestling match in the MLW. His net wroth stands at $2 million.
