What did Carlos Asencio do?

Carlos Asencio has been proven guilty in connection to the murder of his ex-girlfriend Amanda Dabrowski, inside a Massachusetts restaurant where she was attending a book club meeting.

The verdict was delivered by a jury in Worcester Superior Court on Tuesday.

Asencio, aged 32, now faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. His sentencing is scheduled for June 29.

The incident occurred in July 2019 at O’Connor’s Restaurant in Worcester.

Carlos Asencio stabbed his victim more than 50 times

Asencio allegedly stabbed Dabrowski, aged 31, approximately 20 times in the neck and body, in the presence of patrons and restaurant staff.

Some individuals present at the scene restrained Asencio until the arrival of the police.

Amanda Dabrowski succumbed to her injuries.

Another patron was also wounded by a stab but survived the attack, according to authorities.

The victim’s family described how devastated they have been since Amanda was brutally murdered by Carlos

Following the verdict, Edward Dabrowski, the victim’s father, expressed relief outside the court while acknowledging that no verdict could bring Amanda back.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. issued a statement expressing sympathy for the loss and hoping that the verdict would provide some measure of justice for the family.

During the trial, Asencio’s defense attorney argued that his client was suffering from a mental illness at the time of the attack and pursued an insanity defense.

However, the jury ultimately found him guilty of first-degree murder.
