Bay Area Renaissance Festival

The 38th Annual Bay Area Renaissance Festival. Journey back in time as more than 100 merchants contribute to the atmosphere of this charming 16th century village. Experience live armored jousting, 12 stages of entertainment, 7 theme weekends, and fun and food for the whole family!

Sunlit Festival: 2nd Annual Celebration of Literature

The SunLit Festival will bring together to various literary organizations and arts disciplines to celebrate literacy, literature, reading, and writing for ten days of intoxicating "Litertainment." A wide range of activities and events will include the Jack Kerouac Birthday Celebration, poetry nights, timed writing contest, literature themed pub-crawl, early literacy conference, poetry night hike, storytelling, writing workshops, horror writers panel, Shakespeare, and conclude with the Florida Antiquarian Book Fair, the third largest antiquarian book fair in the US.

Anna Maria Island Heritage Day

It's Anna Maria Island Heritage Day with a Settler’s Market selling their famous Settlers’ Bread and herbs, honey and produce. Live music all day plus Bar-B-Q, museum tours and settler era crafts and demonstrations; Bee Keeping, Candle Making, Wool Spinning, Quilting, Knitting, Woodworking, Basket Weaving and more. Old fashioned children’s games and scavenger hunt with games and prizes will be held as well as a Pirate Jailbreak. Rubonia Mardi Gras Festival and Parade

After being canceled last year it looks like it will resume in 2016 with few details available. It's the Rubonia Mardi Gras Festival and Parade. Details from past years: The parade will have more than 50 floats and begins marching south at 2 p.m. on Bayshore Road. There's a street party that runs from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. with food and beverage vendors selling everything from beer, ribs and BBQ to Louisiana seafood. Admission is a $2 donation. Manatee County. 36th Annual Sarasota Jazz Festival
