WATCH: Packers WR Allen Lazard astonishingly takes out three defenders at once, ices it by mocking them with a STONE COLD celebration
The reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers defeated the Miami Dolphins 26-20 on Christmas Day. Wide receiver Allen Lazard lead the Packers in receiving yards, yet he made the most remarkable play when he was not targeted.
During the 4th quarter of the game, when the Packers led the Dolphins 23-20 with three minutes left in the regulation time, the Packers ran a toss play to their running back Aaron Jones, who picked up 18 yards. Jones was able to gain huge yards, thanks to the blocking abilities of the talented wideout Allen Lazard. The Packers’ receiver somehow blocked three Dolphins players at once.
Allen Lazard tried block safety Eric Rowe, who ended up colliding with two of his players Christian Wilkins and Elandon Roberts, causing them all to go down. After realizing he had just blocked three Dolphins players at once, he stopped to look and counted his victims while pointing at them. Very few people can say that they have blocked three players at once, so that warranted a stone-cold celebration from Lazard.
The toss play worked out perfectly, so the Packers called the same play again a few downs later, but this time it was a toss to the left and it ended up being a negative play as the runner was tackled 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage. The Packers ended up winning the game 26-20 and with this victory; they keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Packers increase their playoff chances
After causing an upset at Miami, the Packers’ playoff got a little better. The Green Bay Packers beat the Miami Dolphins after erasing a 10-point deficit. With this victory, the Packers improve their record to 7-8 and are still very much in the hunt for a Wildcard spot in the NFC playoffs picture.
To help the Packers’ cause, a whole lot of NFC teams lost during the weekend. The Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Commanders, and the New York Giants all lost in the course of the weekend, Packers fans got their Christmas gift courtesy of these teams.
The Green Bay-based franchise is on a three-game winning streak. If they win their remaining games and finish the regular season with a five-game winning streak, the Packers might end up clinching a playoff spot with some help during the next two weeks.
The Packers don’t have the easiest of paths to get to the NFL postseason, but at least they will be playing at home for the next two weeks. They have to beat their division winners, Minnesota Vikings, and a tough Detroit Lions team to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot.
