Toke Makinwa was born on November 3, 1984, in Lagos State. She is the second of four children. Mr and Mrs Akinyelure raised the radio queen after her parents died in a fire when she was eight years old.
She went to Federal Government Girls’ College, Oyo. She studied at the University of Lagos, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English and literature.
Career
Toke Makinwa made her significant media debut as a co-host on Rhythm 93.7 FM’s The Morning Drive in 2010. She made her television debut in 2012 as the host of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) beauty pageant, which was televised live across the country.
She co-hosted 3 Live Chicks on Flytime TV with Tosyn Bucknor and Oreka Godis. The show began as a web series before being broadcast on television in late 2012. Makinwa’s contract with Flytime TV was not renewed for the show’s second season, and she was replaced by her radio colleague, Omalicha.
