“There is only one John McClane in my book”: John Krasinski Remaking Bruce Willis’ Iconic Die Hard Rumor Fails to Get Approval From Many Fans

The last person the internet thought might remake the iconic Bruce Willis’ Die Hard was John Krasinski from The Office. While the actor has traveled a long way from portraying the lovable romantic character to now adeptly kicking tail in his own show, Jack Ryan, fans are still not convinced about his potential remake of Die Hard, which is still nothing but a rumor by the way.

Fans Are Not Convinced of John Krasinski Remaking Die Hard!

It was a complete shock to fans when a circulating poster of Die Hard featured John Krasinski. The actor was seen bloodied, sporting the iconic white tank top and black pants famously worn by Bruce Willis in the franchise. The caption “Let it snow” was etched at the bottom, all while the actor appeared to raise the temperature against what it seemed a snowy backdrop, fans were completely taken aback.

Although the actor has indeed achieved significant success in action-packed roles in recent years, transitioning to Die Hard wasn’t the move audiences were expecting. This led to one fan writing under the Facebook post that posted this picture,

“While I love John Kransisnki, there is only one John McClane in my book”

It’s indeed true that replacing Bruce Willis, particularly in a role he made so iconic, is an impossible task in itself. That is why another fan aptly stated,

“Why? Why are we messing with a great movie? There’s no need for a remake when we can watch and enjoy the original one.”

While there’s immense love for John Krasinski, fans also want to preserve the essence of the franchise as it is. However, all of it is merely a rumor, nothing more, nothing less. Turns out, a fan took Krasinski’s picture from the 2016 film 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi and crafted a fan-made poster that had all the die-hard fans in a frenzy.

But Is There a Die Hard Sequel in the Works?

It was supposed to happen after A Good Day to Die Hard. The franchise aimed to revisit its roots by planning a prequel titled McClane. However, in 2021, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura made it clear that nothing was happening at the moment. He revealed to Polygon,

“Yeah, no, It’s not happening. But what was really interesting was we actually came up with an idea to do it. It was a project that wasn’t ‘Die Hard’ that then, eventually, shifted over to ‘DieHard.’–What was interesting about our idea was it allowed you the ability to meet the young John McClane and use Bruce. So it was really interesting in that way. So you sort of got to see both versions of him. A bit [like ‘The Godfather Part 2′].”

The project lost its momentum due to Disney’s acquisition of Fox, leading to nothing being confirmed at present. However, there’s a 50-50 chance of the franchise making a comeback. Fans remain hopeful for its return.

All Die Hard movies are available on Apple TV for rent.
