While the spotlight in The Penguin shines on Colin Farrell‘s return to the role, a lingering question has captivated fans: will Robert Pattinson make an appearance as The Dark Knight? Rumors have swirled ever since filming began, fueled by reports of Pattinson being spotted on set, per ComicBookMovie

Officially, there’s been no confirmation from DC or Pattinson. However, the series’ timeline, set just a week after the events of The Batman, certainly opens the door for a possible cameo. Bruce Wayne, grappling with the aftermath of his battle against Gotham’s underworld, could potentially cross paths with the rising power of Penguin.

Even if Robert Pattinson doesn’t appear in costume as Batman, there’s a chance he could make a brief appearance as Bruce Wayne. And finally, even if his appearance does not contribute anything to the story, a little fan service will not harm the series overall.

While James Gunn and Peter Safran are gearing up on building the new DC Universe, there are other branches of projects from DC going on. Firstly, Joker takes place outside the realm of the new shared universe and so does Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

As The Penguin takes place just a week after the events of Pattinson’s blockbuster, it too is not a part of the DC Universe. The first trailer of the movie was released recently and has the fans excited, with one tweeting “WE ARE SO BACK”.

“When I was a kid, there was a gangster, real old-school type. Rex Calabrese. He was a big deal. He helped people. He saw you on the street, he’d call out to you,”

“When I was 14 or something, he has a heart attack and dies, still holding a cigar. In my neighborhood, they throw a parade in his honor. A friggin’ parade. It wasn’t fancy, but it was a gesture, a show of love, of what he meant. Can you imagine to be remembered like that?” – The Penguin narrating the plot in the trailer
