“The C-word is a mate and the mate is a C-word,” Daniel Ricciardo brings out his inner Aussie as he hilariously explains the C-word
Daniel Ricciardo is by far the most cheerful guy in Formula 1. The McLaren driver is always spotted smiling and cracking jokes, something his fans love dearly. Ricciardo has had a rough time over the past few years with the Australian leaving McLaren and being out of a full-time F1 seat at the end of the year. Yet he is still living life to the fullest, with the same big smile and an amazing performance in Mexico as proof of his talent.
Ever since leaving Red Bull, Ricciardo has found himself in rather underwhelming or undrivable machinery, with his one Grand Prix win to his name, in Monza last year. Although that race lies as an outlier in a disappointing phase of Danny’s career, as Zak Brown mentioned his failure to match the expectations of the team. With the Aussie shifting to a reserve driver role in F1 next year, fans are hoping for Ricciardo to have a fresh start in the sport if he can get himself a drive at a competitive team in 2024.
Ricciardo is someone who does not shy away from taking part in shenanigans, even at McLaren, the Aussie alongside teammate Lando Norris have done various fun activities, a famous one being at the Miami Grand Prix this year, where James Corden took over the McLaren F1 team. He is of course loved by drivers and fans alike, but when it comes to racing, Ricciardo can be a true beast as he has shown us time and time again.
“Hey C-word how are ya?” Daniel Ricciardo educates the viewers in a humorous explanation
Recently, Daniel Ricciardo was invited to the Your Mom’s House Podcast, and his presence made the viewers hysteric, with Ricciardo talking about a variety of topics ranging from Daniel’s personal life to his career and even the Netflix series, ‘Drive To Survive’. However, there was one conversation in the episode which caught the most eyes, a discussion where Danny explains the use of the “C-word” in his home country.
The chat starts with the hosts mocking the Australian accent, and then on the mention of the C-word, Ricciardo talks about how the C-word is used playfully with friends at a bar. While if a tense situation arises at a bar and you’re about to fight someone, people refer to the other person as mate, “Like you wanna go mate?” he said. Then Danny laughed, “When it’s your mate, you say ‘Hey C-word how are ya?'” This hilarious explanation only got better.
The Honey Badger then told the hosts, “The C-word is a mate and the mate is a C-word” referring to the use of the two terms in different situations. Following this Daniel elaborated, “If you emphasize the T at the end that’s it’s less endearing, but if you kinda just make it smooth then it’s cuter.” Telling the viewers how the pronunciation of the C-word actually tells the other person about the conversation being serious or not
Later on, when Daniel tells the hosts about him not living in Australia for the past 15 years, he’s shown a video of a person shouting at a couple on a bus, where the person swears and says the C-word. And Daniel points out the hard T in the person’s voice, proving his point from the beginning of the conversation. At last, this topic was a funny and to some extent an educative one, if you’re looking forward to spending some time at a bar ‘down under.
