The Americans Season-Two Premiere: Sex, Murder, and Lies

Under the guise of doing a "date night," which Paige's nosy-ass questioned, Philip and Elizabeth team up with fellow spies Emmett and Leanne to get a Lockheed Martin employee working for them, but this is less important than the relationship between the two KGB couples. They're friends, and despite how tough it was to leave Russia, they have fully immersed themselves into American life, which is something that Elizabeth has resisted strongly in the past. Yet hanging out with this couple, it seems to make Elizabeth consider the possibility of getting comfortable in America. So comfortable that later that night she and Philip fool around and Paige gets scarred for life when she walks on them. I lol'd at this awkward moment, but I also

because this is way better than someone ruining Paige's bangs. She will definitely not open a door without knocking again. Unfortunately, the damage is done, and Philip now wonders how many other times Paige has tried to see what he and Elizabeth are up to.

Before we can delve any further into that, we turn our attention to FBI agent Stan, whose marriage is strained. He's falling deeper and deeper in love with his mistress and KGB "contact" Nina. I mean, he hasn't said the L-word yet, but he watched a sad Meryl Streep movie with her in their "safe house." Obvs, he's in love, which is makes it sadder that Nina has turned double agent and is feeding him wack KGB intelligence. And it's doubly sad to see Sandra, his wife, try to save the marriage and Stan pretty much be overit.com. Oy. I really don't see this ending well for anyone in this love triangle.

So do you remember Elizabeth's comfort that I mentioned earlier? Well, it's quickly shattered during her second mission with her friends. Due to circumstances changing last minute, Emmett tells Philip that he has to use Henry during a brush pass and neither he nor Elizabeth are stoked to be doing this as kids are never used during missions. Thankfully, the pass is successful, and the two go to drop off the package at Emmett and Leanne's hotel room. And that's when Philip and Elizabeth see the carnage: Their friends, along with their daughter, have been brutally murdered. Not only is this horrible to see, but it also hearkens back to the opening of "Comrades," in which Philip's mission went badly and he had to kill three people. If it isn't clear by now, this season of The Americans is going to be messy, violent, and heartbreaking. I'm not ready for it, but I'm going along for the ride. All that I ask is that Philip and Elizabeth never break up again, but they probably will. Oh, well. A girl can dream.

What did you think of last night's episode? Who do you think is onto Philip and Elizabeth?
