Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa becomes most capped Nigerian player

Ahmed Musa, the captain of the Super Eagles, has become the most capped Nigerian player following his involvement in the second leg of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Guinea-Bissau.

The Nigerian national team defeated Guinea-Bissau’s Djurtus 1-0 in Estadio 24 de Setembro.

Musa, who made his Eagles debut in 2010 and was also a member of the 2013 Nations Cup-winning team, gained 108 caps, a new record for Nigeria.

He has now equaled the 108 national caps held by France’s Zinedine Zidane, Germany’s Jurgen Klinsmann, and Australia’s Tim Cahill.

In addition, the 30-year-old Super Eagles skipper eclipsed France’s Patrick Vieira’s 107 international caps and England’s Frank Lampard’s 106 caps.

The Nigerian attacker has had 16 goals for the national team since his debut. With four goals in the World Cup, he is Nigeria’s leading scorer.
