Sony Execs Had To Warn Seth Rogen To Stop “Arguing With Nerds” After the Actor Got Offended By Online Trolls
Seth Rogen is one of the most controversial and outspoken actors/directors in all of Hollywood, as he has a penchant for speaking his mind no matter what. Therefore it comes as no surprise that Sony Executives had to warn him to stop arguing with Internet trolls after he got offended by them.
It is also a well-known fact that the former stand-up comedian is known to ruffle feathers whenever he can and is also open to joking about himself in many ways. After all, his humility is an attractive feature, but that doesn’t mean he is immune to online trolls.
Seth Rogen Was Urged By Sony Executives To Stop Arguing With Internet Trolls
Seth Rogen is usually the cool-headed, fun-loving, and joking guy but that doesn’t mean he can’t get angry. After all, he has a huge social media presence, especially on Twitter – which is a bed for all kinds of trolls.
While speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Seth Rogen joined the popular talk show host and shared quite a few stories about his life. During the conversation, Rogen revealed that he was told by Sony Executives to stop arguing with trolls for a very amusing reason.
”I joined the Internet pretty late, it was when we were making the movie ‘Green Hornet.’ The reason being, Evan my writing partner, we would go on IMDb and on the message boards, there are always these nerds who really got mad we were making the Green Hornet. We would go on the message boards to argue with them, like, ‘Screw you nerd!’ We didn’t realize that we were using our actual names. Then someone from Sony is like, ‘Are you arguing with nerds on the IMDb message boards?’ I’m like, ‘How did you know that?’ They were like, ‘It literally says Seth Rogen.”
Seth Rogen still managed to portray this story in a humorous way, which has become his bread and butter at this point in time.
Seth Rogen Stopped Working With James Franco After The Latter’s Allegations
In case you didn’t know, Rogen and James Franco came from Freaks & Geeks and their friendship continued from there, as they went on to work in quite a few films over the years. However, allegations about James Franco’s inappropriate s-xual behavior caused a rift in that relationship.
While speaking to The Sunday Times in the past, Seth Rogen addressed Charlyne Yi’s accusations against James Franco. Seth Rogen made it clear that he was done working with James Franco after the allegations.
“What I can say is that I despise abuse and harassment and I would never cover or conceal the actions of someone doing it, or knowingly put someone in a situation where they were around someone like that.”
“However, I do look back at a joke I made on Saturday Night Live in 2014 and I very much regret making that joke. It was a terrible joke, honestly. And I also look back to that interview in 2018 where I comment that I would keep working with James, and the truth is that I have not and I do not plan to right now.”
Many people were actually glad that Seth Rogen took a stand against his friend James Franco after so many allegations. Regardless, James Franco has been shunned from the industry and it is unlikely he will recover ever again.
