If you grind them down, you still can't melt them, so you just get plastic chips, which have no use. I'm sure plenty of people way cleverer than me have tried to find a use for them.

If I throw a crisp packet into the woods, I am littering.

If I hit a golf ball in there, I'm playing golf, so that's ok?
