Police identify body found inside former steakhouse restaurant in Albemarle – WSOC TV

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — The Albemarle Police Department has identified a body found on April 29 inside the former Sagebrush Steakhouse restaurant on Highway 24/27 in Albemarle.

The body as found while the building was being demolished, according to officials.

The heavily decomposed body was sent to the North Carolina Chief Medical Examiner’s Office where it was identified as Christopher Allen Jernigan, 30, of Lincolnton.

Jernigan, who was homeless, was reported missing by family members on March 24. There appears to be no signs of foul play, police said.

A Biscuitville restaurant is slated to open at the site, according to reports.
