Pluto Ending Explained: Netflix’s Anime Skips One Clue That Only Manga Readers Know About the Terrifying Conclusion
The recently released Netflix anime series Pluto has been regarded as one of the best anime series of 2023 with its epic storyline and a new perspective on the sci-fi anime genre. Pluto is set in a futuristic world where, as evidenced by the numerous robot characters, robots, and humans have many of the same emotional traits.
The manga series, which was written by Naoki Urusawa, was based on the works of Osamu Tezuka, the man behind Astro Boy. Urusawa’s adaptation gave the story and setting of Astro Boy additional nuance and depth which was later blissfully adapted by Netflix.
After an incredible eight-part series of exquisite storytelling, the Pluto anime’s conclusion has left viewers with a lot of unanswered questions. Despite the questions, the anime ending was loved by the fans. However, the anime series ending skips one clue that only the manga readers know about.
Pluto’s Anime Ending Explained
The narrative centers on Gesicht, an AI detective, as he tracks down a serial killer who is hunting down the world’s top seven most sophisticated robots in an attempt to create the ultimate machine life form. Pluto, a super robot built by Professor Abullah, the former head of the Persian Ministry of Science, turns out to be the murderer responsible for both the robot and human killings.
Bora, another terrifying robot, is let loose and wrecks havoc throughout the world. Atom approaches Pluto, who at first gets in the way, but they end up connecting deeply, setting up Atom and Bora for the showdown. Pluto voluntarily gives his life to shield Atom and foil the plot as Atom confronts Bora. When they collide, a huge explosion occurs that neutralizes Bora and destroys Pluto.
In the last episode, we find out that the President of Thracia, along with a menacing robot teddy bear, is the real mastermind behind the catastrophic events in Pluto. However, in the anime series, not much is revealed about the teddy bear.

The Terrifying Conclusion in Pluto Manga
Pluto anime in the end reveals that a teddy bear is responsible for the events in Pluto. But there is not much revealed by the anime series about the teddy bear and why he orchestrated such events. However, the manga sheds light on this instance. According to the manga, the bear is Dr. Roosevelt, a supercomputer who counsels Thracia’s president.
His manipulations were crucial in starting the 39th Asian War, making Bora, and sending Pluto on his first mission to destroy the seven most sophisticated robots in the world and anyone who could reveal the truth. This was indeed a major clue that the Netflix series skipped and was only known to the manga readers. This brings a more clear perspective to the ending of the series.
