Pedestrian killed in crash along I-65 in Tippecanoe County

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — State police are investigating after a pedestrian was killed in a crash along Interstate 65 in Lafayette early Thursday.

According to a preliminary investigation, police said an Indianapolis woman was traveling northbound on I-65 in the middle lane when she hit a pedestrian, who was walking in the interstate for an unknown reason.

The Tippecanoe County coroner pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene and will release their identity at a later time.

Police said the driver had minor injuries in the crash.

Northbound traffic on I-65 was diverted off at the State Road 26 exit before getting back on the interstate. All lanes of I-65 had reopened by 4:30 a.m.
