Our New Indie-Rock Obsession, Sarah Jaffe, Wows Us with a Breakdancing 11-Year-Old in her Latest Video "Glorified High"
A great song, a breakdancing kid and a killer haircut—all things you'll find in Sarah Jaffe's new "Glorified High" video. The Texas-based, 26-year-old singer-songwriter tells us, "I immediately saw some type of choreography when thinking about concepts for the video. And although I love to dance, I definitely didn't see myself doing this. So I started digging for ideas and pretty quickly came across the idea of a kid dancing." So, she scouted 11-year-old Emily and her choreographer, Mikey Trasoras, on YouTube, and the rest is video history. Check it out here, and more on Sarah after the jump!
Sarah's latest album The Body Wins is just plain perfect. She serves us up songs about (what else?) love, loss, and relationships. The tunes are intense, and jump around between melancholy and beautiful to powerfully danceable. Inspired by Lucinda Williams and Robyn (and equally as cool), it's hard not to compare her to songtresses like Feist, Fiona Apple, or Cat Power. We get to know Sarah here, as she answers our Glamour questionnaire!
