A data miner has found lines of codes referring to Basketball and Dodgeball in Nintendo Switch Sports. A post-launch plan or scrapped content?
Nintendo has always been pretty interested in pushing its franchises into a sports genre and delivering a fun experience in a quite competitive scene.
We have already played some incredible sports games on Nintendo Switch. From Mario Tennis Aces, an absolute masterpiece, to the last year’s Mario Golf Super Rush.

Hopefully, 2022 is also going to have a big surprise for sports fans as Nintendo Switch Sports will be launching later next month.
We already know that Nintendo Switch Sports will feature six sports at launch, including Football (Soccer), Volleyball, Bowling, Tennis, Badminton, and Chambara (Swordplay). However, these might not be all the sports!
Nintendo Switch Sports Data Have Lines of Codes Referring to Basketball and Dodgeball
A data miner has recently shared a tweet, revealing a few lines of codes in Nintendo Switch Sports referring to Basketball and Dodgeball. Well, we already know that they are some popular sports in the world, but we haven’t heard or seen anything about them in Nintendo Switch Sports marketing.
Another interesting thing found while datamining Switch Sports, the game references both "Basketball" and "Dodgeball" alongside the other playable sports. Could very well just be scrapped content, but mayyybe a potential future update?

So, there are two possibilities for this: the two aforementioned sports are either scrapped content, meaning they were supposed to be in the game but cut from the final product for any reason, or they are planned for a post-launch release.
It’s been a while since we last received a basketball-focused game from Nintendo. Regarding how popular Basketball is in North America, let’s just hope it’s not cut content and we will see Basketball and Dodgeball in the game sometime after launch!
Nintendo Switch Sports will be available on April 29 this year on Switch.
