NC bill would set stricter standards for dog breeders – WSOC TV

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A bill filed Thursday in the North Carolina House would set new standards for dog breeders in order to crack down on puppy mills.

Anyone who owns more than 10 female dogs would have to exercise them daily, give them access to fresh food, water and regular veterinary care.

Cages would have to be a reasonable size and kept clean.

Violators would face a $25 fine per animal and charged with a misdemeanor.
