For those who are keen followers of Nollywood, they will probably be wondering what happened to Mike Ezuruonye. He and his TV twin, Nonso Diobi, were the lover boys cosying up to the ladies on screens, as well as being a Casanova, player and heartbreaker for about two decades.

Mike Ezuruonye biography 

Mike Ezuruonye was born on September 21, 1982, in Lagos State. Although he was born in Lagos, he hails from Uzuakoli in Abia State. He is the oldest of four siblings.

Ezuruonye attended Federal Government College, Taraba, and Archbishop Aggey Memorial School, Lagos. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Akwa, Anambra State. He enrolled in a professional programme at a Canadian film school in to advance his career. In 2021, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in Arts from Estam University, Benin Republic. 

Career 

Mike Ezuruonye is a famous Nollywood actor, producer, director, model, entrepreneur and television personality. He has been in the industry for over 16 years. However, he did not start as an actor. Before deciding to focus only on acting, he had previously worked as a banker. His debut acting role was in the Dickson Iroegbu-directed film, Broken Marriage, which marked his professional entry into Nollywood in December 2003.

Since making his debut, Ezuruonye has rapidly left a lasting effect on the Nigerian movie industry. His attractiveness and innovative approach to interpreting roles he played in movies undoubtedly helped him win the hearts of many people. His fan base is largely made of female fans, partly due to the several romantic roles he played in several Nollywood movies.

Upon his return from a film school in Canada, he made his official directorial debut with the films Brother Jekwu and Divorce Not Allowed (2016).

Mike Ezuruonye is married to Nkechi Nnorom. The couple had their traditional marriage ceremony in May 2010 and did their official wedding on November 13, 2010. 

The couple has a son named Reynold Nkembuchim Ezuruonye. Their son was born on October 1, 2011, in Canada. The kid is fondly referred to as an “independence baby” since he was born on Nigeria’s Independence day.

They also have a daughter named Elsa Ezuruonye. She was born in September 2016 in Canada.

Mike Ezuruonye accident 

Mike Ezuruonye posted a picture on his social media page, suggesting that he was in a ghastly motor accident. This got many of his fans talking and worried about his health.

The actor later made a post on his Twitter account, debunking rumours that he was involved in an accident. He stated that the pictures were from the set of the movie he was working on.

Surgery

On January 25, 2020, a piece of surprising information regarding Mike Ezuruonye surfaced. It was learnt that the actor had undergone eye surgery. The news demoralised his admirers who believed that if the procedure failed, it could spell the end of his career because it was a 50-50 proposition.

Fortunately, he recovered and later briefed the world via his social media accounts about the surgery. According to him. he underwent the corrective surgery following a problem with his eyes, which was caused by prolonged exposure to the strong light needed for acting, He stated that he was terrified from the beginning because there was a 50/50 risk that the medical procedure could go wrong and make him lose his sight. 

Additionally, he revealed in a post on his Instagram page that he had been blind for eight hours.
