Michu Meszaros, a Hungarian-born circus performer died at a Los Angeles hospital at the age of 76, TMZ reported.
At 33 inches tall, he unofficially claimed the title of "the smallest man on earth" before joining the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus in the 1970s.
Meszaros performed the walkaround role of ALF for four seasons in the 1980s. The character was voiced by actor Paul Fusco.
