James Cameron Proved an Olympic Archer Wrong When $5.2B Franchise Invented a New Form of Archery

James Cameron is known for introducing revolutionary technologies in his films. The filmmaker has garnered immense appreciation over the years for not only providing new movies but also new experiences to moviegoers. This is most evident in his Magnum Opus Avatar franchise which has set some of the greatest records in Hollywood and is waiting for more.

The 68-year-old filmmaker is known for many commendable and renowned projects such as Titanic, The Terminator, Aliens, and True Lies. But Avatar pushed James Cameron to international stardom after he introduced one of the greatest Visual Spectacles of all time. James Cameron’s dedication to the Avatar franchise is evident from the crazy feats he did to make the sci-fi flick a totally different experience than everything else. Firstly, Avatar which was to be worked on soon after Titanic was put to a halt after the director felt a lack of the necessary technology. Besides that, Cameron also introduced a new form of archery for the movie starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana.

The Titanic director received immense praise for the sheer detailing and effort he gave in the creation of the fictional world of Pandora. The Na’vi species and their style, everything provided something unique to cinema lovers. Their archery style was also a notable aspect of their culture and it was shown in a very distinct way from the style used by normal humans.

According to a report by the page Film Facts, James Cameron was initially advised by the Olympic expert on set that the archery style he was manifesting was impossible in real life. But the director picked up a bow and an arrow and took no time to prove him wrong.

But even after so much, the living legend didn’t stop and took time to invent a new style of underwater filmmaking to attain perfection in Avatar: The Way of Water. The movie turned out to be utterly gorgeous and nobody could stop praising the breathtaking sequences. The fans hailed it as a visual extravaganza and the repeated successes have ensured three more sequels which will keep the Avatar franchise running till 2031 if everything goes in the right direction.
