Jamal Adeen Thomas was born on February 15, 1973, in New Haven, Connecticut, to Clarence Thomas and Kathy Ambush. His father is a prominent figure in the United States judicial system, serving as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Thomas was raised in Connecticut by his parents as his father attended Yale Law School. In the summer of 1973, the family returned to Savannah, Georgia, where his father had recently accepted a position at a local law firm (Hill, Jones, and Farrington).

He began elementary school in 1979 and was opportune to attend private schools. He enrolled at Bishop Ireton High School from 1987 to 1991. He then enrolled at Virginia Military Institute in late 1992 and graduated in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics. He continued to play football at college, where he had the luxury of having his father and stepmother, Virginia Lamp, see him play on occasion.

The jurist’s son subsequently attended Fork Union Military Academy for a Post Graduate Football programme.  He also obtained a degree in Theatre from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Thomas is an American actor known for his roles in Grey’s Anatomy, Entourage, and FBI: Most Wanted. He has also appeared in various stage productions, including the Broadway production, “Take Me Out.”

Thomas chose to tread a different path aside from that of his father. He not only has a long acting career, but he has also worked in corporate finance for many years, having vast experience.

Thomas has an exceptional background in finance. He has worked in the following firms since graduating:

  • Director of Supervision at Northwestern Mutual’s John F. Van Der Hyde and Associates Network Office. (Present position)
  • Between 2014 and 2021, he was the Overlay Manager at BB&T Scott and Stringfellow.
  • From 2010 to 2011, he worked as a Centralised Supervision Associate at Davenport and Company LLC.

He also worked at Wachovia Securities, which eventually became Wells Fargo Securities, notably as a Compliance Specialist. He holds a current Financial Industry Regulatory Authority practising license.

It was not until 2005 that he made his acting debut in the television series, Miracle’s Boys as ‘Bobby’. Thomas has been in several films and television series since his debut in 2005,

One year later, Thomas was featured as ‘Larry the Pandemic’ in the television series, Gray’s Anatomy. In 2007, he appeared as a Vegas police officer in the Days of Our Lives television series. He also appeared in both Dirty Sexy Money and Two and a Half Men in 2008. In 2009, Thomas was featured in the television series, The Bold and the Beautiful.

Seasoned agent Jess LaCroix directs the highly adept team, which operates as a mobile covert unit that is always on the move, following individuals who are most desperate to evade justice. Thomas was featured as the “SWAT commander”.
  • “Law and Order” (1990) – “Law & Order” is a long-running American police procedural and legal drama television series that aired on NBC from 1990 to 2010 completing its 20th season but the TV series was renewed by NBC for a 21st season, which premiered on February 24, 2022, and season 22 premiered on September 22, 2022. The series was renewed for a 23rd season on April 10, 2023.
  • “Grey’s Anatomy” (2005) – “Meredith Grey”, an aspiring surgeon and the daughter of one of the top surgeons, “Dr Ellis Grey”, stars in this medical and romantic drama. Thomas featured as “Larry the paramedic”.
  • “Blue Blood” (2015) – Blue Bloods covers the lives of the Reagans, the NYPD’s First Family of Law Enforcement.

Thomas attended the College of the Holy Cross and then Yale Law School, where he received his law degree in 1974. After graduation, he worked in private law practice and served in various government positions, including as Assistant Attorney General of Missouri, Assistant Secretary of Education, and Chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

In 1991, President George H.W. Bush nominated Thomas to the Supreme Court to replace Thurgood Marshall. Thomas’s confirmation hearings were highly controversial, as he was accused of sexual harassment by a former colleague, Anita Hill. Thomas was eventually confirmed by the Senate and has since been a conservative voice on the Court, known for his originalist and textualist interpretation of the Constitution.
