As the saying goes: “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” This rings true for the DeVito family. Jake DeVito, the son of iconic American actor, Danny DeVito, has not only followed in his father’s footsteps but is also excelling at what he does.

Jacob “Jake” Daniel Devito was born in New York, the United States of America, on October 10, 1987. He is the son of Hollywood legendary actor and filmmaker, Danny DeVito; and his ex-wife Rhea Perlman. Jacob 

Devito grew up amongst his siblings; he was raised in a family of five, consisting of his parents, his two sisters, and himself. He is said to have experienced a really interesting and comfortable childhood.

He is of Italian descent and holds American citizenship. About his star sign, the talented actor is Libra, and he also identifies as a Christian.

As the son of an incredibly gifted actor, it is safe to conclude that talent runs in the family. Danny DeVito might be the most decorated actor in his household, but his son, Jacob DeVito, is equally talented, not just on screens, but behind the scenes as well.  He made his debut as an actor in 2005 when he was cast in the movie Pieces of a Dream.

DeVito’s professional journey has been a mix of successes and failures. This led to the actor going on a lengthy hiatus before eventually returning in 2014. The pair first crossed paths on January 17, 1971, during the performance of a theatrical play, The Shrinking Bride. Rhea’s friend was one of the actors, so she went to support her friend. It was at this event that she met Danny DeVito, who was also a part of the play. They both sparked a romantic relationship afterwards and within the next two weeks, they began living together.

On January 28th, 1982, Rhea and Danny DeVito tied the nuptial knot.

They welcomed their first child, Lucy Chet DeVito, in 1982. She is an actress and has appeared in several films and television shows. She started her acting career in 2005 when she appeared in the short film, Curmudgeons. She continued to work in various short films and TV series before landing her breakthrough role in the TV series “Deadbeat” in 2014. She played the recurring role of Sue in the show’s first two seasons, which aired on Hulu.

Lucy has appeared in several movies, including Leaves of Grass (2009), Sleepwalk with Me (2012), The Comedian (2016), and Drowning (2019). She has also made guest appearances on TV shows such as Melissa & Joey, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.” She is also a producer and director. She co-produced the TV series “Sunset Daze” in 2010 and the movie “The Final Girls” in 2015. In 2018, she directed her first short film called “Lifestance,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

Their second daughter, Grace Fan DeVito, was born in 1985. She is also an actress.

Jacob is the last child of the couple and their only son. His growing up was said to be a fun-filled one, considering that he came from a family of actors.

After 30 years of marriage, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman announced their separation in 2012. Their split came as a shock to many fans.

However, in March 2013, it was reported that the couple had reconciled and were working on their relationship. However, they were unable to make it work and officially announced their divorce in March 2017.
