Grealish played no part in City's 5-1 victory over Fulham last weekend with a thigh injury.
Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold came off with a hamstring injury during Liverpool's 3-0 win over Aston Villa.
Both Grealish and Alexander-Arnold reported to St George's Park on Monday but have pulled out following checks on their respective injuries.
It's since been revealed that Reds full-back Alexander-Arnold could be out for up to two weeks and could miss their Premier League clash at Wolves on September 16.
