Infinite Warfare Premieres Zombies in Spaceland
Players will step into the zombie-gunk-covered shoes of four 80's film archetypes. You've got the jock, the nerd, the valley girl and the rapper. This already sounds like a John Cusack film in the making, except that unlike every 80's movie, it doesn't feature Cusack; the characters are instead portrayed by Austin Powers' Seth Green, Ike Barinholtz from this month's Suicide Squad and Saturday Night Live's Jay Pharoah and Sasheer Zamata.
"Zombies in Spaceland" tells the tale of these four characters who were all wannabe actors and actresses that were called to a mysterious movie theater to audition for director Willard Wyler, who is voiced by Pee-wee's Paul Reubens. Unfortunately, they walked right into the evil director's trap as he transformed them into characters and transported them into his film to fight hordes of zombies in the 80's-themed amusement park Spaceland. In the theme park, you'll also meet a charismatic DJ who is voiced by and likened to David Hasselhoff.
As for the actual gameplay, Infinity Ward Project Director Brian Bright says that the new zombies mode is "accessible for new players, but also has a deep layer of progression, brimming with Easter eggs and various game features that will be a blast for hardcore zombies fans."
There are also some pre-order goodies to get your hands on for "Zombies in Spaceland." Pre-ordering any edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will get you the "Zombies in Spaceland Pack," which is chock-full of in-game items like unique zombies camo, a zombie reticule, an animated zombies calling card and a Fate & Fortune card pack. You'll also still receive the previously-announced Terminal map, a re-imagining of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map of the same name.
Fans can tune into the Call of Duty Twitch channel on August 17th at 4 p.m. BST to get more information about the upcoming zombies mode. "Zombies in Spaceland" will be playable at the Call of Duty XP Convention, which is running from September 2nd-4th. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be released worldwide on November 4th.
