“In all fairness, The Flash was pretty awful”: Critics Spark Heated Debate After Branding Ezra Miller, Chris Evans and Gal Gadot’s Movies the Worst of 2023

For a long time, superhero movies under the MCU and DC banners have failed to impress audiences. But certainly, those aren’t the only films that are failing to achieve appreciation from fans. Apart from DC’s The Flash featuring Ezra Miller; Chris Evans and Gal Gadot’s movies also got heavily criticized by fans.

Therefore by the end of 2023, Variety released their list of the worst movies of this year. But the list visibly infuriated a netizen who openly tweeted against it. And while doing so he defended Ezra Miller and Gal Gadot, which sparked debates on X as few fans openly criticized the films for being the worst of 2023.

Variety Released Their List of Worst Movies of 2023

Just like every year, with the calendar of 2023 coming to its end, several media outlets released the best and worst elements of this year. Catering to the entertainment industry, the well-renowned outlet, Variety, released its list of worst movies that hit the theatres in 2023. Instead of listing the best movies to lift the spirit, the news outlet listed the worst films.

Gathering all the bad movies of 2023, that were channeling what’s going on around them, Variety noted Owen Gleiberman and Peter Debruge’s 5 worst movies, each. In the list, there were rather renowned films like Ghosted, Asteroid City, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, Heart of Stone, The Flash, and more.

But surprisingly, while most people took Variety’s list light-heartedly, while the outlet openly criticized the hard work of filmmakers and actors, several netizens had different opinions. Among all, one twitterati appeared to be personally humiliated by the list, wh’s opinion on X eventually sparked a debate.

The List Sparks Debates Over Ezra Miller and Other Actor’s Films

After Variety criticized fan-favorite actors like Ezra Miller, Chris Evans, and Gal Gadot, and shredded their movies into bits and pieces, one particular netizen tweeted against the list. Requesting the outlet and other media sources from refraining the release of such lists, their tweet sparked debate on the social platform.

While the particular Twitterati was severely against the list, several netizens debated otherwise. Expressing their opinions on how bad movies like The Flash deserve to be on the list, fans and netizens rose against that one post. However, a few of them stood in support of the netizen and slammed Variety for generating a mean list by the end of the year, rather than ending 2023 with an appreciation for hard work.

Nothing wrong with a double review. Most people are mature enough to know that taste is subjective.
