“I worked with him…They’re paying me for this”: Russell Crowe Talked About Working With Barbie Star in $63M Project

In 2016, Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling starred in the comedy thriller The Nice Guys in which the two stars shared screen space together for the first time. The film focuses on private investigator Holland March played by Gosling and a rough and tough enforcer Jackson Healy played by Russell Crowe, who team up to investigate the disappearance of a teenage girl.

Apart from the brisk pace and action in the film, the chemistry between the two stars received extremely positive responses from critics and audiences. With the unlikely combination of Crowe’s deadpan humor and Gosling’s tangible wit, both actors managed to forge a successful collaboration. The Gladiator actor was all praise for his co-star’s talent and skill and spoke highly of him in an interview during the promotions of the film.

Russell Crowe Is A Huge Fan Of Ryan Gosling

Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling are two actors with very different sensibiities who were paired together in the 2016 film, The Nice Guys. Their unlikely combination went on to become a big hit, with the film doing commercially well at the box office. Russell Crowe, an Oscar winner who is known for a variety of intense roles, was effusive in his praise for his co-star Gosling and his ability to command the screen. The actor in an interview, said,

This kid right, he’s genuinely a comic genius and I worked with him and the pleasure I got out of being on the set every single day, it was almost like, why are they even paying me for this? This is more fun than anything else”

Crowe added that despite collaborating with Gosling for the first time, the two stars hit it off instantly, while enjoying a seamless working relationship on the set, owing to the fact that they always listened to each other while filming.

Russell Crowe Is Part Of Kraven The Hunter

After being part of the Marvel franchise as Zeus in Thor: Love and Thunder, Oscar winner Russell Crowe will next be seen in the origin story of one of Marvel’s villains, Kraven The Hunter. The titular character, who is a significant antagonist in the Spider-Man comics, will be portrayed by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. According to reports, Crowe who joined the cast in 2022, is set to play the role of Sergei Kravinoff aka Kraven’s father, Nikolai Kravinoff, and is reportedly expected to have a significant role in the film.

In the Marvel source material, Kravinoff is the father of both Kraven and Chameleon, the latter being a kid the Russian had out of wedlock. With the official Red Band trailer having been revealed, the 3-minute run seems to indicate that Crowe’s character has definite negative and brutal shades as depicted in the comics. While there is still a possibility that the Kiwi star could reappear as Zeus in future MCU films, for now, audiences will be eagerly anticipating his trademark powerful performance in Kraven the Hunter.

Kraven the Hunter is due to release on 6th October, 2023.
