I’ve broken my last record – Toyin Abraham as ‘Ijakumo’ grosses N136m despite poor reviews
Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, continues to soar despite the heavy criticisms of her new film, Ijakumo.
The actress shared the good news of Ijakumo‘s latest accomplishment just hours after announcing that she is taking the film to United Kingdom theatres.
An ecstatic Toyin Abraham revealed that the movie had surpassed her previous record, grossing N136 million in just 11 days for a film rated 18.
This comes a week after Toyin revealed that it made N31 million in revenue.
Ijakumo had grossed N31 million in three days, becoming the biggest drama of 2022 and the second biggest indigenous language film.
Celebrating the recent achievement, the mother of one wrote:
“I have broken my last record. Thanks to everyone who has seen #IJAKUMO. 136m in 11 days for 18 rated movie. I made a national treasure.
“Don’t forget #IJAKUMO is still showing in all cinemas in Nigeria and yes it is a film you haven’t seen before cos it’s different, classy and toooooo sweet. Oya go to any cinema now and watch #IJAKUMO.”

Recently, Ijakumo was named the worst movie of 2022 by Cinema Pointer, a popular Instagram movie critic.
Cinema Pointer, perceived by her fans as a secret hater of Toyin Abraham, published a list of the worst movies in Cinema 2022, with Ijakumo taking the lead.
“Worst Movies in Cinema 2022. These movies somehow found their way into Nigerian cinemas to deliver the most annoyance, pain & disappointment to viewers, from January to December of 2022. Congratulations to all winners.” Cinema Pointer had written.
