A Mobile Money Agent, often called MoMo Agent, is an individual or entity approved by a licensed financial institution to offer mobile money services to the public. A MoMo agent can perform transactions such as withdrawals and deposits, money transfers, airtime recharge, data purchases, and service and bill payments for customers.

A MoMo Agent is typically a neighbourhood shop that customers can visit to send and receive money; so, they do not need to be bothered about covering a long distance to any bank branch. MoMo Agents operating in Nigeria are licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the country’s apex bank and regulator.

Opening a Momo account and being able to transact any money through your Momo wallet is straightforward. A customer can open a MoMo wallet account by dialling *671# from any network, even though this service is primarily run by a subsidiary of MTN Nigeria.

Once it has been opened, the account owner is expected to fund the account and subsequently use it to make transactions such as sending and receiving money, purchasing airtime or paying bills.

The process starts for the customer by dialling *502# on your MTN line. After dialling the code, follow the steps to register your SIM card with the MoMo service.

After successfully registering, the customer will receive a message that his or her MoMo wallet has been opened. You will also receive an account number, which essentially is your phone number.

Customers can continue to use the *502# to execute any transactions of their choice as long as there is service or also follow the following steps:

  • Step1: Watch for the MoMo Agent Available signboard
  • Step 2: Give the agent the money and the recipient’s contact information 
  • Step 3: After the agent has completed the transaction, you will be sent a six-digit control number. The recipient of the money will receive an additional set of 6 digits. 
  • Step 4: Tell the money’s recipient your six-digit control number. 
  • Step 5: Instruct the receiver to find the closest agent and present the six-digit control number to collect the money.

Momo agent code for Airtel

If you are using an Airtel line, then you are not left out on using a Mobile Money agent. To be able to access the MoMo agent code for Airtel, simply dial *903#.

Through this code, customers can purchase airtime for voice and data services for themselves, their friends, and their family at any time. Pay for items and services such as monthly payments for solar energy, electricity, water, pay TV, and other services. Customers can also transfer funds to and from their bank account, send funds to other Airtel Money users, and withdraw funds from their bank account.

Momo agent code for Glo

For Glo users, dial *995# to register with the network’s mobile money provider, known as G-Kala Mobile Wallet. No Internet service is required. Follow the instructions diligently and the account will be opened in a matter of minutes.

Once the account is opened, customers can access their funded wallet at any time and use it to transfer money to their friends and relatives, pay their bills, receive funds, buy airtime and data, shop online and buy goods and services. They can fund their wallet anytime online or by visiting the nearest G-Kala agent shop.
