Unlike many other errors which show up while playing Destiny 2, the Error Code CAT is not related to the game’s servers or is a bug as such. You might have noticed that this error shows up soon after maintenance, and might be wondering how you can fix it.
Well, the good news is it quite easy to fix the error. All you need to do is ensure that your game is updated, and the error will go away automatically. This error shows up when the game is not up to date. Here is how you can update on each platform.
PC
- Go into the Xbox PC app, click the “My Collection” button in the top left, then “Manage Installs” in the top-right. You will find the new update there.
- Check the downloads section of Steam to find the latest updates. If you don’t see it there, restart Steam.
PS4/PS5
- Turn on the PlayStation 4 system
- Sign into the desired PSN profile
- Press up on the D-pad and navigate to the Notifications menu
- Select the Downloads menu
- Click on the Destiny Update File icon and the update will start.
Xbox One/ Series X
- Turn on the Xbox system
- Sign into the desired Xbox profile
- On the Xbox Home menu, select My Games and Apps
- Select the Updates section of the menu
- Select Destiny and then select Update
