“He will be part of the Raider’s family for years” TE Darren Waller signs contract extension with Raiders worth $51 million
Darren Waller is set to become the highest-paid TE in NFL with a new contract that will see the 29-year-old earn $51 million. This new deal now ties Waller to the Raiders for another 5 years for $66 million.
The Raiders and Darren Waller were negotiating for months until a new deal was finalized. Waller even hired new agents to get him the best deal possible as he thought he deserved more money.
“This was one of the most challenging negotiations I’ve encountered,” Waller’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus. “It is very rare for a 30-year-old player with two years left on his contract to get a new deal.”
Darren Waller was 29 years old when he signed a new deal and it’s pretty rare for a TE this old to sign such lucrative deals. The Pro Bowler will earn $17 million annually which makes him the highest-earning TE in the NFL. Following him in the second spot in 49ers George Kittle who is currently suffering from a groin injury.

Darren Waller has been a revelation for the Las Vegas Raiders
Darren Waller has quite an interesting story, he was signed for the practice squad as the first team players were injured or suffering from suspensions.
Since then the TE has never looked back and has always shined in the Raider’s colours. The Raiders TE went two seasons straight with 1000 yards in receiving in 2019 and 2020. Waller has caught 197 passes and scored 12 touchdowns which helped him get his first Pro Bowl in 2021.

Even injuries couldn’t stop Darren Waller last season. In-spite of suffering from a major injury, the Raiders TE managed to get two touchdowns and get 55 receptions for 665 yards.
