Guide for Need for Speed Payback

Roaming Racers

With the main story completed, you will now only need to be focusing on three classes of cars: Race, Offroad, and Drift. As of now, with no DLC, your Drag and Runner cars are no longer needed. Your goal now is to save up enough cash to buy the Koenigsegg Regera, which costs 882,450 at the Race dealership. For now, keep using your Nissan GT-R as your race car as it will be required for an achievement and whatever Offroad you've chosen.

The next series of races take place in the Freeroam, with the 'Roaming Racers'. These are random cars driving in designated areas of the map that can be challenged at any time. While the racers are called roaming, they actually follow designated paths, and it is these paths that you will be racing them on. Once you've driven past the racer for the first time, you will typically hear an audio cue of your character talking, and the racer will then always be located on your world map. If you can't find one, pictures are provided for each racer's track. Go to any point along the marked areas, park in the road, and wait. Eventually the car will come driving near you and you'll discover it.

There are four clubs, with four racers in each club and a boss. Of the starting four racers, you must defeat each of them three times. Every time you beat a racer, they will disappear for a short period and return to the map five minutes later with a stronger version of themselves. This primarily means they will have a stronger car, and their 'rank' will increase from Rookie to Pro, then from Pro to Veteran. Once they reach Veteran, they will stay that way. When you defeat each member of the club three times, it will unlock the 'Boss', who will then appear automatically on your map roaming their own circuit. You won't need to discover the boss themselves and you only need to beat the boss once.

Two clubs are Race class based, while the other two are Offroad class based. These refer mostly to the style of track you'll be racing them on, whether it be dirt or pavement. Keep a list of which ones you've faced how many times, as the in game journal, through the start menu, doesn't list individual names. The 1% club have the fastest and highest rated cars, so it's important your Nissan is upgraded enough to match. When you approach a racer from behind, hit cn_RB to challenge them. The goal is to stay ahead of them as long as you can to get 100 points. The farther ahead you are, the faster your points raise. If you're having trouble with a race, remember that rubbing is racing, and try and spin your opponent out at the beginning of the race or shove them into a rock and speed away. Otherwise, just outrace them. You can challenge any of the racers in any order you wish as they're spread out among the map, but keep track of who you have beaten. The start menu only tells you how many at what rank you've beaten, not who specifically you have. Let's start with the 1% Club, as that is where another achievement is.

You need to beat each member of the 1% club with a Nissan GT-R Premium at least once so you can grab an achievement.

If you have been following the car recommendations of the walkthrough, you should have a Nissan GT-R Premium that you are using as your primary race car. This should be pretty reasonably upgraded into the high 300's range. The upgraded GT-R Premium will give you the best chance at beating these racers.
