Guide for Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation

The first tip I can give you is to use your D-pad. I didn’t use it at all until about half way through my first run through, and it made things easier for me.

You can push right and left on your D-pad to select the actual objective you want to do so you can concentrate specifically on that objective instead of the other 5 that are going on during the mission.

By tapping forward and back your wingman will guard your front or rear but if you double tap forward with an aircraft in front of you that is selected, he will attack the aircraft selected.

In the bottom middle of the screen you will see a bar filling up while you’re killing enemies. When it turns blue you can use your anti air or anti ground which is crucial in the game. Just hold down the up direction on the D-pad for a few seconds to launch an anti air attack or hold down the down direction for an anti ground attack.

The second tip that you need to know is how not to screw up your save file. I think everyone in our group did it at least once and messed up their online wins. When you start a campaign, it creates a save file. When you play online, point to the same save file for recording your wins. Once you finish up a run through of the game, you get an option to do Start New Game or SP Start New Game. MAKE SURE TO DO THE SINGLEPLAYER START NEW GAME. If you do a New Game, you will erase everything you have done. The SP brings everything forward and you continue with all you have accomplished. It also keeps all your tracked wins online as well. If you create a new game in a new slot, it won’t have any of the wins you have done online, so be very careful when start up your new campaign run.
