‘God bless your heart’: Reactions as man starts giving free rides in Lagos
A Nigerian man named Ayo has taken to social media to announce a heartwarming initiative in response to the recent fuel subsidy removal and fuel scarcity in Lagos.
In a gesture of kindness, Ayo has offered free rides to people living around Aguda, Surulere, who need transportation to CMS/Victoria Island on a daily basis.
Expressing concern over the impact of the transport fare hike on people’s productivity at work, Ayo stated that he wants to help those affected by providing them with a free ride to their destinations. He mentioned specific departure times for the rides and also offered to provide rides back home. While many people appreciated and praised Ayo for his gesture, some also advised him to be cautious for safety reasons.

“If you stay around Aguda Surulere and will like to join me free of charge to CMS/Victoria Island daily, hmu. Departure is 5.45am On Mondays, 6.10am other days. If you close by 5pm and want to join me back to area also, no wahala. 4 slots. I’ll pick at my discretion. Because how is someone who has trekked all their energy away supposed to be productive at work? Times are difficult and we are all we have. It’s not kuku like the car will consume more fuel with passengers in it. Sigh…. NB: Your Work ID validates your entry to my car for the first time. Will not be necessary subsequently. Thanks. It was nice riding with you @EmmanuelPentax Cool guy. –@joy_loura see you at 5,” he tweeted.
