For Honor Year 3 Season 2 Begins Today with a New Hero

For Honor has just passed its second anniversary, and the third year of the game's existence continues to see plenty of support and new content arriving to keep players entertained. Year 3 Season 2, otherwise knwon as Sakura, begins today, and it will be bringing a new Hero and a new map alongside all of the gameplay improvements and bug fixes you can expect from the latest patch.

The latest Hero is a Samurai warrior known as the Hitokiri. They're known as "manslayers" because they travel the countryside looking for criminals to execute with a Masakari axe. Players can choose to play as a male, Yato, or as a female, the season's titular Sakura. Year 3 Pass owners will have immediate access to the hero from today, May 2nd, while other players will be able to buy the character using in-game steel from May 9th.

The new map is called Canopy, a sacred grove with plenty of natural barriers and a central bell tower. Its origins are unknown. One story claims samurai settlers used the landscape to thwart over one thousand enemies. Another story states a deity birthed the grove before he turned to stone. Regardless, the map will be playable in Tribute, Elimination, Skirmish, Brawl, and Duel modes.
The 3.02GB patch will introduce a plethora of improvements to the Heroes Lawbringer and Raider, as well as new rewards, alterations to the Temple Garden map, and plenty of other gameplay improvements and bug fixes. You can see a full list of these in the patch notes, or take a look at a brief overview below.
Maintenance for the patch began at 2PM UTC and is due to last until 5PM UTC. The patch and all of the new content will be available for download after that time.
