Euric Cain 'tries to harm himself with sweatshirt' in New Orleans jail cell
The New Orleans man accused of shooting a Tulane medical student tried to harm himself in his jail cell, according to guards.
Euric Cain, 21, was charged with the attempted murder of Peter Gold, 25, as the fourth-year student stopped his car foiled suspect's apparent kidnapping attempt on a street.
Cain was later accused of kidnapping and raping a couple the day after the shooting.
He told a member of the medical staff at Orleans Parish Prison that he was having suicidal thoughts, and guards who went to his cell found that he was using a sweatshirt to try harming himself.

Cain did not lose consciousness, and was brought to a local hospital as a precaution, according to police.
He was then transferred to Elayn Hunt Correctional Center, roughly 70 miles west of New Orleans in St Gabriel, because it has mental health facilities, according to WVUE.

Cain faces attempted first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping and armed robbery for the shooting incident,
He faces armed robbery, first-degree rape, second-degree kidnapping and carjacking for the attack on the couple the next day.
Gold survived the November shooting, when he intervened after seeing Cain trying to force a woman into an SUV.

Surveillance footage of the scene showed Cain shooting him in the stomach and then trying to shoot him in the head before the gun jammed.
In the second incident Cain assaulted the couple and then forced them to drive to an abandoned school in another neighborhood, assaulted them again and took their car.
He allegedly raped the woman and forced the man to perform oral sex on him at gunpoint.
Police say that when they arrested him for shooting Gold, he still had the couple's car and had used their credit card.
Cain's bail was increased to $7million after the rape and carjacking accusations.
Nictoria Washington, Cain's 17-year-old girlfriend, was charged with being an accessory to the murder case.
