Essie Topless & Barefoot: See It on Five Different Skin Tones

Who tried it: Amber Rambharose, beauty editor

What she thought: "This polish comes out more white than nude on my skin, which is a look that I’m not mad at. I actually love a pale polish because they always look very bold on me, especially in the summer, but I don’t have the skill to apply them at home. Like most paler polishes, this one went on a bit streaky, even after two coats, so I’d probably opt for three or even four coats next time."

How it held up: "I’m clumsy and ruined this manicure on the first day I had it done, to no fault of the shade. I fell down on the sidewalk. In low heels. It was horrible. So other than some smudging, the polish held up well."

Would she wear it again? "Definitely! But it’s a color I would pick out for a manicure, not one I would apply myself. I don't have the skills to make it look this nice. For such a muted color, it does make a bit of statement against my skin, so if I had a fancy evening out or a big event coming up, I'd go for this polish."

What she thought: "I was surprised that this was the most-pinned color, but I can see why. It looked great on my skin. And I’m pretty sure this color is in the shade range that makes diamonds pop, especially in photos. My only caveat: It went on streaky at first, but after I added a topcoat, the color evened out and looked great."

How it held up: "It chipped within about four days after I put it on. That's pretty good for me, though. I’m rough with my nails."
