Focusing on the titular character Cassandra Webb played by Dakota Johnson, who shows signs of clairvoyance, the movie narrates her tale of protecting three young women from a mysterious adversary. While the film is set to hit the theatres on February 16, an eagle-eyed fan notices Easter Eggs that hint at the film’s timeline. According to tiny details, Madame Web follows Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man timeline.

Fan Notices Easter Eggs in Sydney Sweeney’s Madame Web 

Although Marvel Studios faced massive losses one after another with its notable films and characters, they are currently preparing for the lesser-known character of Cassandra Webb aka Madame Web. Perhaps witnessing the downfall of renowned superheroes, Marvel is trying to introduce new characters to win back audiences.

Excited to learn more about how Marvel will execute the movie about Dakota Johnson’s Cassandra Webb who is to protect three young women from a mysterious adversary, fans have already started creating buzz on social media.

The Eagle-eyed fan noticed a few snippets from the upcoming film that suggest that the movie is set in 2003. This particular revelation is creating chaos on social media especially after Jeff Sneider linked Madame Web and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man timeline. 

Madame Web Appears to Follow Andrew Garfield’s Timeline 

During an episode of The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider noted that Sony initially decided Madame Web to be set in Andrew Garfield’s timeline. Not that the actor will feature in the movie as Spider-Man, but the film itself is going to be set in his timeline, as per the 2009 Ultimate Spider-Man series, on which Garfield’s Spider-Man is based.

From what I understand, Madame Web is what they like thought for some reason, Andrew Garfield is going to be Spider-Man in that world. Not that Andrew Garfield is going to be in the movie, maybe in sequels or whatever. For whatever reason, Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man was supposed to be Spider-Man in that world

Following this revelation, fans began digging for more information, and one of them found the Easter Eggs in Madame Web that erased the timeline confusion as it showed events from 2003. Now, since the 2009 Ultimate Spider-Man series supports the timeline between 2000 to 2018, and Andrew Garfield‘s Spider-Man is based on that comic series, it is now believed by fans that Sydney Sweeney’s upcoming movie is set in Garfield’s timeline.

From 2003 Calvin Klein billboard advertising to 2000s computers that featured in Madame Web trailer, fans noted important events from the early 2000s featuring in the upcoming Marvel movie. Further, they also witnessed Gary Carter’s 2003 MLB Hall of Fame induction feature in a newspaper snippet in the trailer of the film. All of these Easter Eggs pointed at how Madame Web is following Andrew Garfield’s timeline, which erased fans’ confusion.
