Dying Light 2 gets festive with free DLC and update that adds new weapons
Kicking off the festive fun tomorrow, the Winter Tales: Gifts from Above event will see Santa dropping Dying Light-style Santa Airdrops from the sky. He'll be in Villedor between December 19 and January 5 with a host of rewards for players, but you'll need to complete errands for Baka to unlock the new seasonal-themed Winter Elf outfit, weapons, and blueprints — we'll be able to follow the event progress on the Pilgrm's Outpost website. The addition of snow for the duration of the event means you'll be able to throw snowballs at your enemies to freeze them before cutting them down. Keep an eye out for the Uncle Snow boss mob.
Alongside the event, we'll also get the Winter Tales update on November 19, a smaller free content update ahead of the guns and towers update next year. This update will add polearms, exploding shurikens and knives, and nocturnal weapons, the former of which will also be wielded by the updated Spearman enemy variant. Nocturnal weapons feature a new experimental mechanic that leeches off your Immunity when wielding them in the dark but offers powerful bonuses in return. As for things to swing your shiny new weapons at, Techland is adding a new Goon variant to Dying Light 2 — one that can call in pals — and some new Gas Tank enemies, such as one variant that freezes its opponents.
As we begin to wind down for the holidays, Techland has given us a look at some of the statistics for 2023, which shows that we slaughtered 5.3 billion biters this year. We also managed to fire over a million arrows, die 263.8 million times, play Dying Light 2 for 86.8 million hours, and more. Check out the visual above for all of the cool milestones we hit this year.
Dying Light 2's Winter Tales event kicks off tomorrow and makes the Hakon Bundle free via the in-game store. See you in Villedor, friends!
