Double French Manicure How-To Tutorial: Easy Steps

Ah, French manicures. So classic. So polarizing. Much like Instagram makeup or a certain current political figure, you're probably either really for them or wish you'd never see them in your feed again. (We personally blame our high school prom photos for the bad rep.) This year, however, the look is coming back full force, and much to the excitement of the nonenthusiasts in the room, it's returning with nary a white tip in sight.

Meet the Frenchie's cooler, older sister: the double French mani. According to Madeline Poole, Sally Hansen global color ambassador and all around mani magician, what makes this take so much fresher is the doubled-up tips and neutral (but far from boring) color palette. "This is a much more graphic look than your average French manicure—it's a bit funky," she says. "With gradating subtle gray tones, it feels really cool rather than pretty. And thanks to the negative space in this look, it's light enough to be worn once it gets warmer too."

Fun! So how do you copy it without ending up a Pinterest fail? We asked Poole to break it down, step-by-step.
