Dinah Mattingly was born on November 16, 1954, in West Baden Springs, situated in the U.S. state of Indiana. She is mostly renowned as the second wife of former basketball superstar, Larry Bird, who currently works as a coach and executive in the National Basketball Association.
Mattingly grew up in Indiana and has lived there almost all her life. She attained her high school education in Terre Haute, Indiana. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University.
Mattingly and Bird have been together for over three decades, and they have raised two children: Connor and Mariah.

But before Bird met his current wife, he was, however, in a relationship with his high school sweetheart, Janet Condra, whom he eventually married in 1975. Unfortunately, the marriage only lasted a year, with the couple’s union officially dissolved in 1976.
On August 14, 1977, a year after their divorce, Condra bore her first child, Corrie, who was fathered by Bird during their marriage.
Moving on, Bird met Mattingly in the late 1970s, at Indiana State University, where she was studying at the time. Despite a two-year age difference between them, the pair began a romantic relationship.
In the late 1980s, Bird and Dinah finally got engaged after a prolonged period of dating. The couple tied the knot on Halloween night in 1989 in a modest ceremony held at the home of a mutual friend in Terra Haute, Indiana, with only seven people in attendance.
Two years into their marriage, the couple adopted a daughter, named Mariah, in 1991. The following year, they adopted another child, their son Conner. Currently, Mariah has established herself as a career woman, leading the events management wing of the Indiana Pacers basketball team.
As for their son, Conner, it is unknown what he currently does for a living. However, Conner has been in the news for having several run-ins with the law. He made national news on February 13, 2013, when he was arrested at Indiana University on charges of assault and intent to inflict bodily harm. He was accused of trying to run over his former girlfriend with his car and was initially charged with criminal mischief, weapon intimidation, and marijuana possession.
He subsequently pleaded not guilty, and he finally struck a plea deal on the basis that he would adhere to the conditions issued by the court, which include joining a monitoring programme and not getting involved in further crimes of any sort.
Mattingly’s stepdaughter, Corrie, who is Bird’s daughter from his first marriage, is currently happily married. According to reports, Mattingly was highly involved in bridging the gap between her husband and Corrie.
