He bowled six overs and gave away 45 runs without knocking a wicket. Jongwe scored 19 runs and the team lost the match. He made his Twenty20 International debut playing against Pakistan on the 27th of September 2015.

In December 2020, Jongwe was included to play for the Tuskers in the 2020–21 Logan Cup. In April 2021, Jongwe was included in Zimbabwe’s team for their Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Pakistan. On the 26th of April 2021, Jongwe was named in Zimbabwe’s Test squad for the series playing against Pakistan. Profile

There is always a sense of excitement whenever a young batter with a lot of promise emerges into the scene. Jongwe made a name in junior teams more as a batter than a bowler. His story resembles a fairy-tale book. A stranger observed his talent in the dusty streets of Glen View in Harare. His parents did not like the idea of their son playing cricket instead of concentrating on school work.

But he believed in his own ability. While cricket became the center of his life as a young lad, big things began to come his way for him. When he went to secondary school at Churchill High School, opportunities were unlocked. First, he led the Zimbabwe Under-14 team to tour Namibia. When he turned 16, his name was included in the Zimbabwe Under-19 World Cup team.

In 2016, he suffered a head injury in a practice match in the UAE before WT20 in India. Owing to this, he was ruled out of the mega tournament.

There were also rumors that his cricket career could have reached a dead end. But he went on to fight against all odds by recovering in time. He made himself available for selection for Zimbabwe’s home series against India in the same year. However, he was not selected by the national selectors. Jongwe looks up to Elton Chigumbura as his role model and wishes to participate in the Indian Premier League someday.
