Columbus man arrested for strong arm robbery of Sirloin Stockade

Columbus police arrested a man accused of robbing a local restaurant and injuring a customer in the process.

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WTHR) - Columbus police arrested a man accused of robbing a local restaurant and injuring a customer in the process.

Justin A. James, 29, of Columbus faces a felony strong arm robbery charge for stealing cash from the register at the Sirloin Stockade at 3114 N. National Road just after the lunch hour Friday.

Police say James approached a cashier and asked for change, then reportedly reached into the register and took an undisclosed amount of money.

As he left the restaurant, James knocked an 87-year-old woman to the ground. She was treated at Columbus Regional Hospital for a facial cut and injured wrist.

Police arrested James Friday night as he was driving on Chestnut Street.

In addition to the Strong Arm Robbery charge, James faces two misdemeanor battery charges.

Police say he also had two outstanding arrest warrants in Bartholomew County.
