Club icon Jimmy Rollins takes on enhanced role with Phillies – NBC Sports Philadelphia

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Jimmy Rollins is stepping up his role for the Phillies. An advisor with the club since 2019, Rollins is now special advisor to the president of baseball operations.

The club announced Rollins’ assignment on Thursday night and said he would periodically assist the big-league club in an on-field capacity and advise the front office with baseball decisions.

“Jimmy is synonymous with one of the two greatest runs in Phillies history,” managing partner John Middleton said. “We look forward to the positive impact he will have on this year’s team.”

President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said Rollins would offer “significant gain” to the front office.

Rollins, the 2007 National League MVP, was a three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove winner with the Phillies. He is the franchise’s all-time hits leader.

In addition to working for the Phillies, Rollins will continue to be an on-air analyst for a select number of games for NBC Sports Philadelphia.

“The Phillies mean a great deal to me, and I’ll do whatever I can to help get this team back to where it belongs, and that’s deep in October,” Rollins said.
