Where can I get sheets of masonite? It won't be very long until building starts (as soon as planning finishes and a summer job is secured) and I need masonite for roadbed (I'm using spline roadbed) and the layout facia. I tried checking the Home Depot website, but a search for 'masonite' only brought up doors made from masonite. Similarly, a search for hardboard brought up hardwood headboards for beds. I havent been to home depot in a while, so I'm not entirely sure if they stock it at the warehouses and just don't put it on the website. (I believe I do that with 4'x8' sheets of plywood)

Home depot blows. If you have a local lumber yard, try them instead. I'm betting that if you walked into a HD, Asked for masonite, most in there would look at you like you had 3 heads.

It's not just the service, but you really need to make sure of the product you're buying. Much of their stuff is a knock off or cheap substitute. Major brand suppliers will build of fabricate to HD specs. Not apples for apples and the slight savings doesn't justify the poor quality.

Bought some PVC exterior casing ( ran short on one slider), The HD version was a cheap composite and not even solid PVC. could barely put a stainless nail through it and chipped even w/ a new 80tooth Freud blade. Absolute junk and only pennies less than the quality stuff from my normal supplier. This is especially true w/ most of the framing lumber and pine also. The S4S hardwood and the hardwood ply are normal quality though.
