Broncos LEGEND Ronnie Hillman gone too soon at age 31 after battling liver cancer
Ronnie Hillman fought very long on the field and off the field as well. The 31-year-old passed away after battling liver cancer that was detected in August of this year. The news was released by Hillman’s family, who released a statement on social media in tribute to him.
Hillman was battling a rare form of liver cancer called renal medullary carcinoma and the former Broncos RB couldn’t recover from it as he passed away in hospice care on Wednesday.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother [and] father, Ronnie K Hillman Jr., Ronnie quietly and peacefully transitioned today in the company of his family and close friends.” The statement read. “We as the family, appreciate the prayers and kind words that have already been expressed. We ask that you would give us time to process our feelings as we prepare to lay our precious RJ to rest.”
Hillman had a short but fundamental career in the NFL as the former RB won a Super Bowl with Denver Broncos and played a prominent part in the Super Bowl game. He was drafted by the Broncos in 2012 and played in two Super Bowl finals with them, grabbing one title in the process.
Hillman had delivered 863 rushing yards and 7 TDs to win Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers.

Ronnie Hillman had a short stint in the NFL but it was an impactful one as the former RB played for numerous big teams, including the Chargers, the Vikings, and the Cowboys.
Hillman was drafted in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft due to a standout performance at San Diego State where he rushed for 3,243 yards and further rushed for 36 touchdowns in just 2 years.

Hillman played for 4 teams in his 5 seasons in the NFL. During those 5 years, he recorded 494 carries for 1,976 yards while scoring 12 touchdowns and also had 534 yards in receiving.
The former Broncos RB moved to the Cowboys in 2017 but didn’t get a chance to play for them. Hillman then later retired after the 2017 season, making his stint in the NFL for just 5 years.
Ronnie Hillman will be a part of the NFL legacy even if his playing career was just for 5 years and the former RB will be remembered forever as the Super Bowl winner with the Broncos.
