Blowback over video of Noah Schnapp handing out 'Hamas is Isis' stickers hits 'Stranger Things'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Stranger Things' star Noah Schnapp's controversial move has prompted a heated debate on social media.

The 19-year-old American actor, who is best known for portraying Will Byers in the popular Netflix web series 'Stranger Things' has recently fuelled outrage on social media after he was seen distributing stickers with slogans like “Hamas is ISIS” and “Zionism is sexy” alongside some of his friends in a video shared on X.

The video has since gone viral, garnering over 43 million views and sparking a debate on the social media platform with many users furious over Schnapp's controversial move.

Noah Schnapp recently came out as gay in a TikTok video

Schnapp was skyrocketed to popularity with his role in the Netflix series 'Stranger Things.' The young actor made his acting debut in 2015 with the Oscar-winning film 'Bridge of Spies' in which he played Roger, the son of character James B Donovan, reports Hindustan Times.

His other works include the voice role of the lead character Charlie Brown in the 2015 animated film 'The Peanuts Movie.'

He also starred in the 2023 American psychological thriller film 'The Tutor' earlier this year which was directed by Jordan Ross alongside Nickelodeon fame Victoria Justice.

Schnapp recently made headlines when he publicly came out as gay in a TikTok video posted on January 5. 

With the caption, “I guess I'm more similar to Will [Byers] than I thought,” he made a reference to his Stranger Things character who is also gay.

Fans threatened to boycott 'Stranger Things' after Noah Schnapp's controversial video went viral

It is quite evident from the social media reactions that Schnapp's gesture did not sit well with a large number of social media users. Moreover, a few threatened to boycott the show now that it has been reported that the final season of the popular sci-fi series is scheduled to begin in the next couple of weeks. 

One user tweeted, "Reminder you should be boycotting Stranger things with that racist and Islamophobic dickhead Noah Schnapp in it," while another reminded, "dont forget that the Duffer brothers are zionists too."

One user opined, "Pretty sure there's more of them in there. Noah just has less tact. Anyway I've given up on it since after season 2", and another wrote, "The reality is that this makes stranger things even more popular because bad press=good press. I remember the voice actor scandal of Bayonetta 3. This made the game sell even better."
