Bachelorette Party Ideas for Underage Bridesmaids
My sister/maid of honor is six years younger than me, so she wasn't quite ready for the bars (in the legal sense, at least) when I was getting married. She and my other bridesmaids got creative with the plans for my bachelorette party--and here's how you can, too.
Get your karaoke on. I'm a karaoke fanatic for two reasons: I love, love, love singing, and I find the cheesy, nonsensical videos that show the words to the songs to be extremely entertaining. Fortunately, there are plenty of places that don't insist that you be 21 to get on the mic or witness others embarrassing themselves. We went to a Japanese restaurant (sushi is another one of my favorite things) so we passed the mic around the table over sake and California rolls.
Eat up. Most restaurants don't have minimum age requirements, and if the bride-to-be is a foodie, what better bachelorette celebration is there than eating a delicious dinner--or dessert? I'm a chocoholic so we capped off karaoke with a decadent dessert at a Manhattan chocolate bar. And nothing could have been sweeter (pun intended). Plus, the 21-and-over ladies were welcome to order cocktails.
Have a make-your-own handbag party. You can hire a company to come to the hostess's home with all the pieces you'll need to make pretty pocketbooks. It's more age-appropriate than painting ceramic unicorns (though that was a blast in fourth grade), but just as fun for a crafty bride. Best of all, the bachelorette party favors are built in.
Hit the spa. A day of pampering, though expensive, is something ladies of all ages can enjoy. And after months and months of wedding planning, the bride could use a few hours of pure relaxation. Choose a place where you can get services, like mani/pedis, at the same time, or that has a big Jacuzzi or sauna you can communally kick back in.
