Atlas/Kato RS3 axle cover removal - Model Railroader Magazine

I see the 4 latches Jim but popping the latches is a chore. On 2 occasions I popped the truck side frame when I used it as a leverage point to pop the axle retainers. I would like to hear from someone who has done this & have them tell me how they did it.
